Our team has grown over the last couple of years and we are spread out across India. While the field teams are stationed on site, our field support team also largely works remotely from their respective homes.

Maling Jangmu
Maling’s passion for education ignited with her first step of volunteering with Umeed – A Drop of Hope, where she visited slums in the Laxmi Nagar area of Delhi to teach kids.
After working with various nonprofit organizations, including SOS Children’s Villages of India, Maling cultivated a diverse skill set. As a District Coordinator, she developed expertise in team management, project documentation, monitoring, and evaluation and also focused on creating a conducive environment for livelihood and capacity building. Networking with the Labour Department of Faridabad and ensuring the visibility of entitlements for migrant workers were also part of her responsibilities. With her experience of handling the operations and monitoring of the Migrants Resilience Collaborative Project in Faridabad and also her work with Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community, she has honed herr collaboration skills, developed a people-centric nature, and compassion as well as her communication abilities, enabling her to effectively engage with stakeholders and drive positive change.
Maling is driven to contribute her talents and expertise to the smooth functioning of Adhyayan’s programme in the East Kameng District, where she wishes to leverage her skills in innovation and build strong professional relationships for the benefit of the learners.
Beatrice Chopra
As a Programme Manager at Adhyayan Foundation, she’s on a mission to drive positive change in primary schools. Beatrice’s week includes visits to selected primary schools and introducing innovative pedagogical strategies to boost foundational literacy skills. She’s a mentor to teachers and school leadership, driving improvements and conducting complex meetings to ensure school growth.
She steps into her role with boundless enthusiasm, dedicated to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes in our district. With a background in Political Science and Early Childhood Care and Education, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the table.
Before joining us at Adhyayan, Beatrice honed her skills as an educator. She’s been pivotal in lesson planning, curriculum execution, and fostering strong parent-school communication at the school where she served as an educator.
With a heart dedicated to community development, Beatrice has rolled up her sleeves to work with marginalized children, advocate for childcare, and empower families. Her diverse experience and fluency in English, Hindi, Tenyidie, and Nagamese make her a fantastic communicator across all backgrounds.
Hengam Riba
Anurag Shukla
Anurag Shukla is currently the state coordinator for Arunachal Pradesh. He has been a public policy researcher for a decade now. He has completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and has been a visiting scholar at Hiroshima University, Japan. He has worked previously with organizations such as Pratham, Azim Premji Foundation, CFAR, Times Group, and Business Standard. He has also published research papers in international journals such as the London Review of Education, Education Technology Research and Development, Teacher Plus, etc. Adhyayan’s work of directly working with schools is something that brought him here, and he aims to understand the school system better and how policy changes are shaping the system. Beyond his interests in education, he loves reading non-fiction books, traveling, and playing badminton.
Rukmo Umpo
Rukmo commenced his professional journey in the BPO sector after completing his graduation. He earned a Master’s degree in Commerce and an MPhil from Rajiv Gandhi University. Before joining Adhyayan, he served as the District Programme Coordinator for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. His brief tenure as a Programme Coordinator for PMMVY deepened his passion for working towards societal welfare.
At Adhyayan, Rukmo found the opportunity to work in the education sector, a field that has always called out to him, enabling him to contribute to a positive change in society.
In his leisure time, he engages in various handicraft activities, attempts to play the guitar, and indulges in his love for travel and exploration. He particularly enjoys exploring new places on his motorbike, nurturing a dream to traverse the entire Indian Subcontinent after his retirement.

Ayushi is a public policy enthusiast with elaborative experience in the field of development sector with a major emphasis on child advocacy, mental well-being, and education. She pursued her graduation in English Literature and is an ardent reader. She has been working with children for almost 5 years and is a firm believer in ‘justice is what love looks like in public’. Ayushi believes that every child deserves a umpteenth number of chances at life and education is one of those many chances that can enable them to change everything, hence she lives by – “The world is changed because you are made of ivory and gold. The curves of your lips rewrite history.” At Adhyayan, she’s working towards striving for access to foundational literacy in government schools and wants to promote equitable outcomes for every child.

Utkarsha has completed her post-graduation in chemistry (MSC Chemistry)and also bachelor’s in education (B. Ed) She has one year of teaching experience and has also worked as a Quality Control Officer in Cipla Pharmaceutical limited for 4 years. Utkarsha loves teaching and also to spend time with children, she spends her free time gardening, reading, and cooking. Presently working in Adhyayan Foundation to orient teachers on GN App and capacity building of stakeholders on GN App as a tool to achieve FLN Goals

Rahul Gaonkar
Rahul has successfully obtained a Master’s degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed) from Bharti Vidyapeeth Pune. With four years of experience as a physical education teacher in a school, Rahul has honed his skills in teaching and mentoring students. Driven by his passion for social work, Rahul dedicated his time as a volunteer for Nehru Yuva Kendra, actively contributing to the development of young individuals. However, in the wake of the pandemic, Rahul observed significant learning gaps among students. Motivated to make a difference, he decided to join the Adhyayan Foundation. His primary focus is to enhance the capacity of teachers so that they can effectively bridge the educational gaps caused by the pandemic. Rahul thoroughly enjoys being on the ground, engaging with students through the teaching of various outdoor games. He also finds solace in exploring different places and immersing himself in the beauty of nature during his free time.

Systemic School Improvement Programme
Bhavna completed post post-graduation MA in Education from Azim Premji University, Bangalore. Being there in the educational area for the last 2 years, her focus is to build the capacity of educators or people involved in the education sector for holistic development of the education system. She is keen on understanding and improving various teaching-learning methods in the classroom setting with limited resources. Apart from education-related literature she also loves to read about gender issues to build an understanding of inclusivity. Earlier she worked with Kotak Education Foundation where she built the capacity of school Leaders in personal and instruction leadership. The teaching of Buddha fascinates her and she also completed an 8-month residential course at Nagaloka, Nagpur. When not working Bhavna spends her time playing with Rubik’s Cube, Chess and spending time with Nature.

After completing her Post Graduation in Commerce (Finance) from Goa University, Surekha joined the Government Organisation – Juvenile Justice Board which was her first experience in the court environment and then moved to The Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education where she managed the academics department. This was where the various aspects of the education sector were first introduced to her.

Anushri has worked as an Educator for the last 14 years across East Asia, India, and the US on various Education-based programs. Since 2017, she has been a founding team member and CEO of Adhyayan Foundation.
Anushri received her postgraduate degree in International and Comparative Education from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Hong Kong. She is an alum of the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship’s Women-led accelerator cohort and is an organizing committee member of Teachers College’s India chapter.
She has worked on education in the contexts of military violence and refugees, gender-based violence, and public education and governance.

During her Ffellowship with Teach for India in Pune, Tiasha got first-hand experience of being a teacher in a low-income private school for 2 years. It pushed her to explore this field and build her knowledge and understanding of the development sector in India. This led to doing a Masters in Development from Azim Premji University, where with a diverse set of people, issues to discuss, and insight to gain, Tiasha was able to gain an interdisciplinary perspective on this sector. Before this, she completed her Bachelor’s in Mass Media (specializing in Journalism) from Sophia College for Women, Mumbai. Working in different capacities with several not-for-profit organizations across the country, she realized the vastness of the fundraising world and the importance of it for any organization, leading her to join AQEF. She is passionate about finding the best brownies in town and exploring local delicacies in restaurants wherever she goes.

Aniket Gurav
Aniket has a Diploma from the FX School of Cinematography. Through his work with varied clients over the years, he has broadened his skills in storytelling. His role at Adhyayan involves visiting good schools and capturing their best practices on video which can be shared with peer schools for continuing the learning and improvement process. Traveling to remote and beautiful places, talking to the stakeholders, and listening to their experiences are some of the highlights of his work day. He has a love for swimming and a passion for capturing beautiful moments with his camera and these are the things that keep him going.
Haenik Kamdar
While interning with the technology team at Teach For India during the final year of his Engineering course, Haenik came across their Fellowship program and never looked back. He taught 90 high school students in a low-income classroom in Mumbai for two years and stayed back for an additional third year to teach 42 students in a different community of the city. After graduating from the program, he worked on various educational initiatives such as Mastree by Academy and CodeChef for Schools in the capacity of Sr. Curriculum Designer and an Educational Consultant respectively. Having spent a year in the education technology space, he joined Adhyayan and works on all things data. Beyond work, Haenik enjoys cycling and cooking daily and travelling by train to experience India.
Chirag Bhatia
Chirag embarked on his professional journey in Auditing & Compliance before venturing into the dynamic realm of Business & Corporate affairs, within the Accounting, Finance, and Operations verticals. His core strength and key area of responsibility over the years has been in the domain of Data and operations Analysis, FP&A, and Management Information Reporting. During a phase in this period, Chirag devoted his weekends to volunteering, which kindled his enthusiasm for teaching and a renewed appreciation for schools and a simple life. This interest led him to transition into the education sector, assuming the roles of both a teacher and a versatile resource for an NGO-operated school in a picturesque village on the outskirts of Mumbai. While balancing these dual responsibilities, Chirag gradually found his footing in the Social Sector, which led him to his expedition with Adhyayan.
In his leisure time, Chirag finds solace in traveling, delving into the profound wisdom found within spiritual, religious, and philosophical books and scriptures, playing basketball or badminton, and touring areas of secluded serenity and natural splendor.
Divya Bhandari
Divya, driven by her passion for voice, choice, and safe spaces, embarked on the Teach For India Fellowship after experiencing an epiphany during her volunteering stints at CRY. Teaching students in a low-income private school for two years deepened her understanding of what makes children thrive. Recognizing her love for cultivating a culture of joy and learning, she chose to extend her impact as a Program Manager. In this role, she coached, mentored, and trained Fellows in their 2-year journey while building a citywide sense of community through several projects. Now at AQEF, Divya is your go-to person for all things related to people & culture.
When not at work, you can find her engaging in conversations with just about anyone – embracing the beauty of human connection, bingeing on Bollywood trivia, or perfecting that last note on her ukulele!

A computer science graduate from West Bengal, Bijan has been a Teach for India Ffellow from Pune and has significant years of experience working in the government school ecosystem. He has worked in a diverse set of roles in the sector, starting as a teacher, then working on school development, and later as a curriculum designer in the Ed-tech sector. He likes to travel to new places, meet new people, and have new experiences. He also likes to watch movies and loves to play cricket and football.

Motivated by a desire to uplift underserved communities, particularly in the realm of education, Biplab aspires to contribute significantly to social development initiatives.
