During her late twenties, Kavita embarked on a transformative journey rooted in the belief that schooling holds the power to shape destinies. As she traversed classrooms across the nation, she was deeply disturbed by the glaring disparities within the schooling system. Some schools thrived, nurturing curiosity and growth while others left students disengaged and feeling like failures.
At Shishuvan, a K – 12 school in Mumbai, Kavita brought her vision to life demonstrating a vibrant community where learning extended far beyond the confines of textbooks and classrooms. It confirmed her belief that a school’s success cannot be measured solely by academic achievements or top scores on exams; it also lies in the ability of a school to foster a healthy relationship with learning for every student. This requires the school to make each day interesting and meaningful, so that every student loves learning and enjoys working collaboratively with peers and teachers.
A pivotal moment at the height of Shishuvan’s success was when she was posed with a simple question: “How do you know your school is good?” So Adhyayan was born, as a commitment to schools that are keen to honestly answer the question and will commit to making the changes required.
